Hi! I’m Summer Paradiso,
a Virginia Beach native and lifetime artist. My work explores themes of diversity, self-love, and unity. A lot of my inspiration comes from the bond humans create through shared experiences and the resulting love we may feel for one another through this connection. Through acrylic and mixed media, I use abstraction and magic realism to create symbolic layers within each piece. My subjects include human form and nature-inspired elements enveloped in vibrant color and expressive mark making. It is my goal as an artist to create a space that invites self-recognition and introspection among viewers, and leaves them feeling uplifted, empowered, and connected.
I have always enjoyed art as a hobby, dabbling in everything from drawing, macrame, leatherwork, painting, and mixed media. My educational background is in Social Work, Spanish, and Education. After teaching and traveling abroad, I became a special education teacher in Virginia Beach. I taught for six years, only to follow my heart to the easel to teach art.
I have two children who keep me very busy, but also bring me so much joy and inspiration.
